UP THERE, EVERYWHERE opens a new Cambridge hub at St. John’s Innovation Centre, connecting global life science expertise with UK innovation.
Cambridge isn’t just another pin on UP THERE, EVERYWHERE’s global map - for some of us, it’s a personal landmark.
For Deborah D.C. Harris, who leads our presence in the Cambridge-Oxford corridor, the connection runs deep. Thirty years ago, she relocated from Washington, DC, to Cambridge as Global Director of Sales and Marketing for Science Magazine. Back then, she hired the very founders of UP to help rebrand AAAS and Science.
“Cambridge has a warm place in my heart. It’s where my science career was born. I’m very much pleased - and the whole of UP is pleased - to be supportive to other companies who are trying to go global from Cambridge.” - Deborah D.C. Harris, BSc MBA
Today, that personal connection has come full circle, as UP officially opens its newest hub at St. John’s Innovation Centre—a space surrounded by the cutting-edge innovation and world-class research that shape the future of healthcare, biotech, and pharma. Here in Cambridge, that means being part of an ecosystem anchored by the Cambridge Biomedical Campus - home to Addenbrooke’s and Royal Papworth Hospitals, global pharmaceutical leader AstraZeneca, and renowned research centre, the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute.

Why Cambridge is the UK’s Life Science Powerhouse - and the Perfect Home for UP
When it comes to life sciences, there are only a handful of places in the world that come to mind instantly. Cambridge is one of them. Anchored by the prestigious University of Cambridge and a network of renowned research institutes, the city is a magnet for biotech, pharmaceutical, and medtech innovation. Cambridge’s collaborative ecosystem doesn’t just connect institutions - it’s where transformative science comes to life.
Think Sir Frederick Sanger’s Nobel-winning development of DNA sequencing, which laid the foundations for modern genomics at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology. Or Astex Pharmaceuticals' fragment-based drug discovery, birthed in Cambridge and responsible for over 40 clinical candidates and global cancer treatments. These aren’t just local stories - they’re global game-changers that reflect exactly the kind of bold, high-impact breakthroughs UP helps bring to world attention.
UP’s decision to establish a base here is both strategic and symbolic. “UP THERE, EVERYWHERE is a full-service branding, marketing, and digital agency,” Debbie explains. “We’ve got a global team of experts who have been working in life sciences for many years - in biotech, pharma, and even science publishing. For over a decade, UP has been supporting life science companies, and it is finally the perfect time to bring our network of expertise to this location.”
Kate Adams, COO and Head of UP UK, agrees:
“We’ve long supported Cambridge companies, but being here physically puts us closer to the innovation and the people driving it. That access means we can deliver even more impact for life science leaders looking to scale globally.”
From Global to Local: How UP’s Worldwide Life Science Team Connects in Cambridge
With headquarters in Stockholm and creative hubs in London, Hamburg, New York, Shanghai, and beyond, UP has always operated as the world’s first truly global cloud-based branding and marketing agency. Our 175+ team members span continents, collaborating seamlessly to take complex science and turn it into clear, compelling stories for investors, stakeholders, and global audiences.
But while we thrive in the cloud, we also understand the value of face-to-face collaboration. The Cambridge hub offers a base for in-person meetings, workshops, and events - including a life science symposium planned for later this year. It will also serve as a centre for regional engagement, with dedicated team members building connections across the city’s thriving innovation community.
“Being here allows us to both witness and contribute to the future of life sciences. We are excited to be part of this vibrant community by bringing creativity and communication to the forefront.”

The road ahead: Helping Cambridge Life Science Innovators Go Global
For Debbie, opening in Cambridge isn’t just a business move - it’s a return to where her journey in science and branding first took root. For UP, it’s an opportunity to embed ourselves in a city that sits at the crossroads of research excellence and commercial innovation.
From biotech and medical device startups seeking their first global investors to established pharma companies looking to redefine their brand, UP is ready to help Cambridge’s life science leaders tell their stories to the world.
For UP, this isn’t just about opening a workspace. It’s about coming full circle, stepping into one of the most influential life science hubs in the world, and committing to help its ideas reach the people who need them most.
